Friday Roundup #44
A wire basket full of yellow onions, red onions, and shallots, some still wearing their grocery store stickers.
Full disclosure, y’all: this roundup never went out. That week got away from me, and by the time I came up for air, the best of it had already rolled into Friday Roundup #45. So this is what was left, backposted to where it belongs to keep the numbers straight.

- Halloween Update: The cemetery went up a little late, Monday afternoon instead of the weekend, and it’s appropriately spooky. The whole setup is in How We Do Halloween at the Creek House.
- Garden Update: The saffron is up, 18 of 25, but nowhere near flowering. I may have gotten them in too late this year; we’ll see. (Spoiler from the future: they bloomed. It’s all in Roundup #46.)
- What I’m Reading: It’s been a busy week, so there’s been no time to dive into any fiction. I’m still working through Impact & Excellence by Sheri Chaney Jones [Bookshop.org*].
- What I’m Watching: I finished Carrie [Rotten Tomatoes], and I have Opinions. (Spoilers ahead.) The updated timeline was fine, and the changes to Carrie and her mom made them both more human. I hated the rest of it. That group of women ruined the ending, because the whole point is that Carrie did everything herself, and then she died. Flanagan has clearly set it up so Carrie grows up and lives on through future seasons.
- What I’m Eating: Ham stock, a double batch of brothy beans, and a double batch of caramelized beef and pork bowls.
What are y’all reading/watching/cooking/dealing with this week? Let me know in the comments.

P.S. Yes, that’s my allium basket up top. It’s always stocked with onions and shallots, and every so often a couple of heads of garlic.
