It’s been a while since my last roundup! Yikes! A lot has happened since my last posting: A couple of long vacation trip weekends with friends, a lot of work changes, some medical appointments, and most recently and annoyingly – a flooded downstairs. Now I’m waiting on insurance to approve quotes so I can get the downstairs floors replaced. In the meanwhile I’m on vacation for the next week, so there won’t be any additional posting until the middle of August, but keep an eye on Instagram for some vacation food reviews.
- The last weekend of March I met up with a friend who lives in Ohio. We picked a spot halfway between her place and mine, and wound up spending a long weekend in Sevierville, TN. We rented a fantastic 2 bedroom condo overlooking the valley, swapped recipes, cooked, sat out on the deck with cocktails, and, of course, shopped at the outlet mall! I found the cutest, most comfortable pair of summer shoes: Blowfish Marley. I picked up 2 pairs – one in this lighter floral pattern and one called “Gray Winterbloom”. I love them!
- I finally finished setting up the irrigation system for the vegetable beds at the house. It was a long process with a lot of trial and error (and a bit of budget overrun! ouch!), but I’m really pleased with the results. I have a 3-post series coming on how it’s put together and a list of resources and parts.
- Like everyone else in the world, I’m addicted to Wordle, but I’ve also started playing some of the variant games as well. It’s part of my morning “wake up the brain” routine now:
- I splurged on a 2nd Eufy vacuum on Prime Day this year so I could keep one upstairs and one downstairs. I moved the older Eufy upstairs put the Eufy X8 downstairs. Having both vacuums run automatically is a game changer when you have pets!
- I booked our fall vacation for Jekyll Island this year. Covid is still an issue for travel and neither of us particularly wants to get on an airplane for any length of time. So we rented a house across the street from the beach and we’ll just spend a quiet week enjoying the last bit of warm weather and eating as much good seafood as we can.
- My new YouTube binge watch has been Sorted Food. It’s a group of British friends – a combination of professional chefs and what they’re calling “normals” (i.e. non-chef home cooks) – who review ingredients, cooking tools, have competitions, and present new recipes. It’s a fun and educational channel to watch and I’m really enjoying it.
That’s about it for this week. I hope y’all have a great weekend.
